Union City CUPA
In
1983, the City of Union City adopted a Hazardous Materials
Storage Ordinance and amended the Fire Code to implement the
State's "community right-to-know" laws and the Underground
Storage Tank Regulations. The goal of the ordinance and subsequent
amendments is to protect people, businesses, structures, and
the environment from the adverse effects of hazardous materials
used and stored in Union City . The Union City Environmental
Programs Division (UCEPD) of the City's Public Works Department has
the responsibility for the City's Certified Unified Program
Agency (CUPA) programs. Under authority granted by the state,
the UCEPD administers the following programs:
- Hazardous Materials Business Plan Program (CA Health &
Safety Code, Chapter 6.95)
- Hazardous Waste Program (CA Health & Safety Code,
Chapter 6.5)
- Underground Storage Tank Program (CA Health & Safety
Code, Chapter 6.7)
- Accidental Release Program (CA Health & Safety Code,
Chapter 6.95)
- Aboveground Storage Tanks (CA Health & Safety Code,
Chapter 6.67)
- Uniform Fire Code (UFC Section 8001.3.2-8001.3.3a)
- Clean Water Program/Storm Water Pollution Prevention (Clean
Water Code, Division 7-Water Quality)
