Participating Agency (PA) in the Cities of Campbell, Cupertino, and Los Gatos
Hazardous Materials
Santa Clara County Fire Department (formerly Central Fire Protection District) administers the following programs through the Fire Prevention Bureau:
- California Fire Code (with local amendments) for the County of Santa Clara and the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga.
- Hazardous Materials Storage Ordinance (Municipal Code) for the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, and Los Gatos.
- Toxic Gas Ordinance (Municipal Code) for the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, and Los Gatos.
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention (Municipal Code) for the communities of Campbell, Los Gatos, and Saratoga.
As a Participating Agency (PA), the Department also administers the following Hazardous Materials related state programs:
- Hazardous Materials Business Plan (California Health and Safety Code, Chapter 6.95) for the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, and Los Gatos.
- Underground Storage Tank (California Health and Safety Code, Chapter 6.7) for the communities of Campbell, Cupertino, and Los Gatos.
Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health is the Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) and administers the Hazardous Waste Generator and Tiered Permit Programs (California Health and Safety Code, Chapter 6.5), Risk Management Program (California Health and Safety Code, Chapter 6.95), and state-regulated Aboveground Storage Tank SPCC Plan (California Health and Safety Code Chapter 6.67).
Inspections required by these programs are sometimes pre-scheduled and can be coordinated on request by contacting either the Santa Clara County Fire Department or Santa Clara County Department of Environmental Health's Hazardous Materials Compliance Division (HMCD).
