Materials
The Fire Department
administers the following programs through the Fire Prevention
Bureau. Visit the Municipal
Code, Titles 15 and 17 to view these code amendments and
ordinances.
- California Fire Code (with local amendments)
- Hazardous Materials Storage Ordinance
- Toxic Gas Ordinance
As a Participating
Agency (PA), the Department also administers the following
Hazardous Materials related state programs: *
- Hazardous Materials Business Plans (California Health
and Safety Code Chapter 6.95)
- Aboveground Storage Tanks (California Health and Safety
Code Chapter 6.67)
Santa Clara County
Department of Environmental Health's Hazardous Materials Compliance Division (HMCD) is the Certified
Unified Program Agency (CUPA) and administers the Hazardous
Waste Generator Program and Tiered Permitting (California Health
and Safety Code Chapter 6.5), Underground Storage Tank Program (California Health and Safety
Code Chapter 6.7) and the Risk Management Program
(California Health and Safety Code Chapter 6.95). *
Inspections required
by these programs are usually pre-scheduled and can be coordinated
on request by contacting either Palo Alto Fire Department
or HMCD.
*Effective 1/1/2009, responsibility for the UST program transferred to Santa Clara County CUPA.
Environmental Compliance
Division
The Environmental
Compliance Division of Public Works administers the following
programs. Visit the Municipal
Code, Title 16.09 to view the Sewer Use Ordinance.
- Stormwater and Wastewater Pollution Prevention Permitting
